If you’re one of the billion Facebook users, then you will no doubt be aware of the recent increase of video content being put onto your news feed. With memes, informative documentaries, and much more content being shown, it comes as no surprise to learn that video is the most engaging form of content on Facebook. With this in mind, many marketers and people within the music industry have been using this to their advantage in order to increase engagement on their page. After all, standing out on the platform is about as difficult as wearing a unique outfit at Tomorrowland. In this article, we’re going to discuss how you can use Facebook ads to get more video views on your content.

Before we dive into the specifics of the content, it’s definitely worth mentioning that a Facebook video advertisement is simply a video that appears in the feed of your target audience. For example, if you wanted to run a campaign to promote a new festival, you could place it in the feeds of people who attended ADE or Tomorrowland. This feature within Facebook’s advertising platform is extremely useful when trying to target a new audience to generate ticket sales or create brand awareness. With the ability to customize the description, thumbnail, caption, and so much more, you can optimize it for the target audience. Also, Facebook video ads provide a great opportunity for your content to potentially go viral. As thousands of people are viewing it, the opportunity for it to be shared and reach an even larger audience is truly incredible.

Now that we’ve gone through why you should run a Facebook ad, it’s time to understand how to set one up.

  1. Go to the Facebook home screen. Click the arrow in the top right corner and select “Create ad”.
  2. On the menu, there will be a variety of options. Click “video views” for this particular campaign objective.
  3. This part is a bit more lengthy. Play around with the options to create an intended target audience such as location, age, and interests.
  4. Once your audience is defined, you should focus on the budget. If you click “advanced options”, select a bid cap of around $0.05 per view. This will prevent you from overspending if the campaign doesn’t perform well.
  5. Now you just need to create your content. Typically, videos without a lot of text work better. For an EDM audience, consider using footage of a show/festival in order to grab the attention of the audience.
  6. Once you have reviewed everything, click confirm and you are ready to go.

It is certainly worth mentioning that in order for your ad to be incredibly effective, both the targeting and creative elements need to be perfect. If one of those factors is sub-par, there is a high probability of the ad performing poorly. If you simply want the video views and don’t care much about sales (for example, a video of your new song), consider running the advertisement on a worldwide basis in order to maximize the reach. Often, you can get views for a $2-3cpm (cost per thousand) – compared to a $5-7cpm running ads in high-wealth countries such as the USA. But we’ll cover different audiences in another article. Facebook ads are certainly a truly magnificent tool that you can use in order to enhance your brand. Done correctly, you will yield some incredible results.
