India is one of the most populous countries on the entire planet. With literally billions of people living within its borders, the opportunity to have your artist brand known by thousands, if not millions, of people within the country is a genuinely probable possibility. Being a country full of diversity, technology, and business globalization, only a fool would think that India is somewhere that you don’t want your artist brand to be present in. During this article, we’re going to discuss the current opportunities available within the country, and why it’s the next frontier for exponentially increasing the global presence of your artistic brand.

Currently undergoing many political & technological shifts, the country is on the verge of increasing its GDP (gross domestic product), and becoming the world’s fastest growing economy. Overtaking superpowers including the likes of the US & China, it’s potential for growth is absolutely phenomenal, and definitely underestimated. With a consumption class expected to triple to over 89 million households during the next few years, there is certainly a lot of people that are able to interact with your music, stream your tracks, and potentially end your shows.

During the next few years, it is predicted that the country of India will have approximately 70 cities – each with a population of over 1 million people. Due to increasing health standards, improving economies, and infrastructure improvements, it is surely undeniable that the number of middle-class citizens within these cities will overtake the likes of the United States, Germany, and other large economies all around the world. There will literally be millions, tens of millions, of people within one country that can afford to listen to your music & buy your merchandise, and VIP tickets to your shows when you play in the country. That’s truly an incredible opportunity for literally anybody to grow their business. Currently, at 1.2 billion people, it is on track to become the world’s most populous nation within the next 10 years. Accompanied by market expansion and business investments, it is also poised to become one of the biggest global frontiers for opportunities within the entertainment industry.

One of the most prominent sectors within the Indian economy is ICT & Communications. With many computer companies, phone networks, and other sectors investing in India, it has quickly become one of the most incredible opportunities for technology worldwide. For example, record labels have the potential to outsource employees for graphic design, business development, customer service, and other roles to people within India at an extremely low cost. A small expense of $100-300 a month could provide someone in the country with a job, high standard of living, and great quality output of productivity for the record label.

Due to the low cost of living, the overhead expenses of operating within the country are naturally much lower than western countries such as Sweden or the United States of America. As a direct result of this, the wages needed to sustain a moderate life for employees are much lower – thus creating a great business opportunity for anybody wishing to reduce their expenses.

India also has one of the lowest CPM’s (cost per thousand impressions) on the Facebook advertising platform despite being one of the world’s largest growing economies. Literally, you can target EDM fans within the country & gain a following of over 75,000 people for as low as $800. Considering that it will one day be the world’s largest country in terms of population growth & GDP, the opportunity available to you as a producer is absolutely incredible. If you are someone with the capability of thinking long-term, you will understand that by developing a fanbase within the country, you can tour there, and use it as leverage to collaborate with influencers, singers & producers within regions around the Asian continent.

Despite having many languages spoken throughout the Indian states, English is the official business language of the country. So whether you are in Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, or anywhere else, the majority of the audience will easily be able to clearly understand you – without having the need for a translator. Obviously, this is a stark contrast to other countries within Asia full of opportunity (such as China) due to the incredibly difficult language barrier that many people have problems overcoming.

With over a billion people, it comes as no surprise to learn that India has a lot of different economic & cultural backgrounds. For comparison, Mumbai has a GDP of approximately $310 billion at the time of writing. This alone is more than the gross domestic product of countries such as the Philippines or Hungary. On a more national level, India’s GDP is currently at $2.5 trillion which puts it directly ahead of Canada, Russia, Australia, and many other developed countries around the world. If you originally doubted India as a place to do business, those insecurities & worries will most likely have faded after looking at these stats.

The truth is that India is undoubtedly the next global frontier for a business opportunity within the entertainment industry, and pretty much everywhere else. The low overhead cost of operating within the country, large economic market, underpriced attention of the consumer, and many other factors will lead to incredible growth within the Indian market over the next 5-10 years. With gross domestic product higher than the majority of countries in Europe, Oceania, and other parts of the world, it is simply ridiculous not to put your artist brand within the country, and develop a strong presence for it around the world.
