As an artist, a lot of the content you share will originate on your phone. Particularly on tour, much of what you share with the world will be photos taken on your device. In the world of marketing, there is nothing worse than content that is of a low quality. Low-resolution images will negatively impact your reputation and will make it difficult for your posts to receive the attention they deserve. To make sure that this does not happen to you, here are three mobile apps that will help improve the quality of your photos.

Mendr

Mendr is a complex photo-editing app that enables you to fix a number of aspects of your photos on one platform. You can remove a background photobomber or swap the background entirely. You can remove objects or enhance the way you look using airbrushing and other tools. This goes as far as allowing you to change the colour of your hair or change its length. The basis of Mendr is that instead of editing your own photo, a professional editor will do it for you. All you need to do is upload your photo and select the edits you’d like. The app is free but you will need to pay for each edit, the price depends on the level of complexity required. The functionality of the app makes it extremely easy to use, you must simply draw a circle around the item you want to be removed or changed and explain what you’d like the editor to do. You’ll receive a notification as soon as an editor is working on your photo and another as soon as the finished photo is ready. You can even share the finished photo directly to Instagram once it is finished. While the app isn’t free to use, it offers a hassle-free option for those on a tight schedule. The other positive is that you don’t need to have any knowledge of photo editing in order to use the app.

PicsArt

This app enables users to use post-processing to make images look much more professional. Overlays can be added and backgrounds can be changed. You can add text and even create memes, making this app great for creating potentially viral content. The basic version of the app is free but upgrading to the paid version will give you access to much more advanced features. The app also allows you to create a collage or frame images. The downside of this app is that it can be more time consuming as it requires the user to make their own adjustments. That being said, there are a great deal of complex options that can greatly improve photo quality. There are a huge variety of effects that can be added to photos, including filters. You can also manipulate the blur, saturation and fade of a photo effortlessly, enabling each photo to be the best it can possibly be. You can even apply effects to certain areas of an image. Like Mendr, there are also ‘beautify’ options that allow you to edit your own face. Using this, you can remove blemishes, change hair colour, whiten teeth and more. PicsArt also lets you share images directly to Instagram, as well as Facebook, Snapchat, Messenger and more.

Snapseed

This app is from Google and allows you to edit images for free. The app has a number of preset options to enable users to edit images quickly and effortlessly. There are also a variety of more complex options that enable you to edit in much more detail. These range from tuning your image to changing perspective. Tuning your image allows you to edit the brightness, contrast, saturation ambience and highlights. The app offers great usability and is extremely quick to use. Like PicsArt, this app also enables you to overlay text or add a frame. Unlike the other options, this app is completely free, making it a clear favourite.

Each of these three apps offers different benefits. In order to find out which one works best for you, give each of them a try and see the results. Mendr is a better option for those who are not concerned about cost but have a very limited amount of free time to do their own editing. The other two options are much more creative and are better suited to artists who have time on their hands to adapt their own content. You may even want to use multiple apps to edit a certain image. An example of this is using Mendr to remove something unwanted in the background of your photo before editing the colour in PicsArt.

Regardless of the app you choose to use, applying more complex editing to your images is a great step in the right direction. On social media, it is important not to be lazy with the content you share. If you want to really make an impact on your audience, don’t let a low-quality image drag down the overall appeal of your Instagram. If you take a look at some of the greatest accounts on Instagram, the reason for their success is often consistency. Even one poor quality photo can completely drag down the overall appeal of your account and can damage your engagement level. Like all aspects of your career, succeeding online requires dedication and time. Without dedicating your time to editing your images, your social media presence will struggle to reach its full potential.
