Many people seem to believe that if you can get your content featured on large pages, that will instantly make you an internet celebrity due to the millions of impressions that your work will get. However, in most cases, it couldn’t be further from the truth. Which is why in this article, we’re going to discuss how to approach big content curation pages and the resources you’ll need to be successful.

Platforms such as 9GAG, Unilad & The Lad Bible are absolutely notorious for making content go viral. With millions of followers, they have helped give ordinary people internet stardom in a very short timespan. But there are 3 things that you’ll need to do if you wish to make your content go supposedly “viral”.

Firstly, you need a good advert for your account. This is basically the content that you are sending to the page to upload. In order for people to follow you, there should be a call to action (such as “Follow PRODUCER NAME”) at the end of the video. In essence, you need to tell the audience what to do. If you don’t have fancy video editing software, simply overlaying text on iMovie (or whatever program you have) should do the trick.

Next, you’ll need a good profile. For this section, there are so many things that you can do in order to make your profile look more aesthetically pleasing. For example, have a good description that is short but precise, clear profile picture, website in bio, and that all the images in the gallery flow well. But primarily, your content has to be good. If the quality isn’t absolutely terrific, the content will not convert into engagement. It’s that simple.

You’ll definitely need to have the right niche promoting your profile. After all, there’s no point in a cooking channel uploading a video of your new set at a recent festival. The audience has to identify and relate to the content in order for them to engage. To give you an example, a producer wanting to promote a short clip of their recent festival set could message meme pages, specialist dance music pages etc. This allows the exact audience you want to target the ability to see your content. Plus, it’s probably cheaper than running advertisements against half a million people.

Next, you’ll need to create a list of pages that you wish to pitch your content to. Admittedly, some naturally won’t reply – so try and hit up around 50-60 accounts if possible. What you have to remember is that they are receiving hundreds of similar requests each day, and therefore may take some time in responding. Pricing is important. As influencer advertising within Instagram is a fairly new industry, there are no set prices for a number of followers. Therefore, it’s totally up to the influencer as to what they charge. Some will be overpriced and expensive. But in contrast, some will be very cheap and will allow you to get a deal at a very low price. As a general rule of thumb, expect to pay $1 USD for every 1,000 followers.

What’s amazing about these types of content curation pages is that both parties are helping each other out: The page provides your account with exposure, and you give them content to help grow their platform. It couldn’t be simpler! In order to set up a deal, a lot of content curation accounts will make everything happen within Instagram Direct Message. However, larger accounts such as 9GAG will have dedicated emails for demo submissions. Obviously the higher the follower count, the higher the price that you can expect to pay.

Good Luck!
